This course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the approaches to SEND and challenging behaviour, it will cover the definition of SEND and the key legislation including inclusion and equality and how best you can support this in practice safely and appropriately ensuring you can meet the needs of the individual child.

It is heavily focused on partnership working including the child, family and outside agencies in decision making and highlights what early intervention is and how to identify when its needed along with what supporting paperwork will need to be completed to support the individual child and family.

  • Identify the impact of the social model and medical models  of disability
  • Recognise inclusion in practice and understand what discrimination and equal opportunities are
  • Understand your role in early identification
  • Consider the links between behaviour and SEND

  • Work in partnership with parents in a professional and trustworthy manner
