Meet the Trainer - Simon Hart

17/09/2018

Simon trains budding caterers on our Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships in catering and professional chefs and has 28 years of experience working in catering. Before joining BB Training Academy, Simon worked for 9 years in the prison service as a chef. During this time, he managed inmates in the kitchen, as well as kitchen staff and trainee chefs. Now, Simon manages a rather different demographic, training tomorrow’s caterers at award-winning BB Training Academy.

Before joining the prison service, Simon was Sous Chef of the Freemasons’ Hall, and held other senior positions at Leicester City Football Club and Quorn Country Hotel. He has even worked at the National Space Centre!

Simon has an impressive array of other qualifications, including first aid, disability awareness, fire safety and equality and diversity.

Meet the Team - Tim Crossfield

Outside the kitchen, Simon coaches and manages an under 9s football team in Leicestershire, has earned a Level One Futsal and Level One Coaching qualification from the FA and is currently studying for his Level Two. He is also an avid runner, completing the London marathon in 2018 and regularly running 5ks and 10ks.

As a Training Assessor Simon focuses his training around the learner. He makes it all about the personal strengths, traits and preferences of each learner to ensure they are getting the most from their learning. This is a practice we promote throughout all our training and courses at BB Training Academy.

Simon provides lots of support for learners not only during but outside sessions too to help make sure each learner has access to all the information and guidance they need to excel on their course.
