The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards – or DoLs were introduced within the Mental Health Capacity Act 2005, which was enforced in 2007, and is designed to safeguard the most vulnerable people in our society within care homes and Hospitals, who do not have the Mental Capacity to maintain their independence, dignity and right to freedom, and as they are protected if any arrangements deprive them of their liberty.
This course aims to provide you with an understanding of what is covered under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, so you can take appropriate action to protect the welfare of the adults you work with.
