This course explores the safeguarding processes in place for people who may be deprived of their liberty in a care home or other care setting. You will understand what the deprivation of liberty safeguards are and develop an awareness of what is covered by them and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
You will gain an awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and how the deprivation of liberty safeguards may apply to your setting.
You will understand the processes involved in the necessary deprivation of liberty, including the application process, assessments and reviewing the authorisation.
You will know what constitutes deprivation, restriction and restraint, and will be familiar with the differences between DoLS and Mental Health Act.
